"There is something in us that is wiser than our heads" Arthur Shopenhauer
In order to access that wisdom I need to get out of my head. To move away from that addictive place where thought is running incessantly through my brain and inhibiting authentic expression.
I dance to access that wisdom which exposes an inner choreography that dictates my outer movements in the great dance of my life.
I dance to still my mind which subjects everything to analysis and judgment, and then in turn renders me fearful of truthful expression of the spirit that pervades my being.
I ask myself, "How am I experiencing this life that is being lived through me?" then I turn my ears inward in order to hear my own heart-beat, feel my own pulse; and start to resonate with the beat of the drums.
My teacher the dance, shows me that each moment is a fresh one, bringing with it new and exquisite gifts. It exposes my humanity, my vulnerability and my strength. I am a flawed, spectacular and deeply compassionate being!
"If we cannot hear the music of our own sweet nature calling to us, if we cannot remember that the intention is to live who we really are, it's hard to know how to move, where to begin, how to dance." Oriah
I somehow lost myself in a world where the media tells me that I lack something and need to acquire something in order to fix myself so that I can look or be acceptable.
I have become locked in a recurring dream dancing the repititive story-lines of my life where voices whisper to me that I am not enough and that I need to be fixed in order to be loved.
So I amp up the volume of the beat that underscores the pulse of my life and I lose myself in the music! My dance begins with the feelings that are moving through me: raw and honest. I let them flow through me unhindered by thought or judgment. Trusting the wisdom that is wiser than my head will guide and support me toward being all that I am.
This is home...wisdom resides here....love resides here.
"I must find the song lines that run through my life, the melodies that remind me of what I really am and call me gently back to acting on this knowing. I must learn how to dance." Oriah
